About AOAMI

Organizational Description

The AOAMI is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit member association. It is the only medical informatics specialty association that serves the needs of osteopathic physicians as well as corporate members.

Mission

The AOAMI advances the core competencies of the osteopathic profession to improve patient care
through the utilization of medical informatics.

Goals

  1. AOAMI is a primary resource for the utilization of medical informatics in the
    implementation of sustainable health delivery models.
  2. AOAMI collaborates with other organizations to provide medical informatics expertise.
  3. AOAMI Advocates for education and research in the field of medical informatics.
  4. AOAMI provides value added programs, products and services that generate revenue to
    sustain the organization.

Duties of Board Members

As a Member of the Board of Trustees of AOAMI you will be expected to actively participate in functions of the Board. These include:

  1. Supporting the Mission of the AOAMI as described in the bylaws.
  2. Attend meetings of the Board of Trustees and actively participate in the decision-making process.
  3. Review all written materials in preparation for Board meetings and any Committees on which you may be appointed to as a member or advisor.
  4. Sharing your expertise and experience with the Board of Trustees and staff.
  5. Be an advocate for the organization and appropriately promote the AOAMI with your fellow physicians, residents, and students.
  6. Maintain membership in the American Osteopathic Association of Medical Informatics and the AOA.
  7. Appropriately meet the requirements of the AOA for Continuing Medical Education.

As a Member of the Board of Trustees of AOAMI you will be expected to possess the following qualities:

  • Expertise in informatics and/or other areas related to the use of technology in the practice of medicine
  • Ability to be a team player and support your fellow Board members and the staff
  • Judgment in governing the Association to the best interests of the Association, its membership, and the profession
  • Adequate time to devote to Board business and its related duties
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of the Board and items discussed by the Board and staff in the meetings and outside of meetings.
  • Commitment to do the best job that you can.
  • Loyalty to the Association and the profession
  • Support for and belief in the mission of the AOAMI.
